The L. County Fair may have been called off this yearbut a challenger is popping up in the San Gabriel Valley. True to its name, Boat Cinema will present largely nautical-themed movie screenings literally on Castaic Lake every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this summer. This epic and free outdoor concert series features live performances by artists from around the world at the totally overhauled California Plaza stage in DTLA, where the shallow water separating the stage from the audience has been replaced by a proper event lawn though seating will be limited to the amphitheater.
The event has also expanded its way to Orange County. Pershing Square will play host to food trucks, bars and local vendors alongside a music stage and a pop-up water park. For the edition, expect nearly screenings in a trio of formats: outdoors, indoors for vaccinated attendees and online. The spot also hosts Melrose Rooftop Theatre, an outdoor screening series that runs from July to November on the rooftop space attached to its open-air bar, L.
Tired of having to seek out the sole vegan stand at a food fair? Then make plans for this Wednesday night market in the Arts District with a rotating lineup of plus vegan vendors. Admission 5—9pm and parking are both free, and kids and dogs are both allowed.

The San Marino botanical garden will show a different movie every second Friday of the month throug the fall, with live music and themed concessions for purchase for each they just ask that you leave the booze at home.

The Skirball puts on its annual series of free summer concertshighlighting indie, folk and world music from L. Attendees are encouraged to sing along, dance in the aisles and gather at the foot of the stage to celebrate with the performers.

Objects on display at the Forest Lawn Museum include stained glass artworks, preparatory drawings, oil paintings, watercolors and archival photographs.
