To promote trout fishing opportunities in New Mexico and encourage anglers to branch out and discover new fishing waters and trout species, anglers can now participate in the New Mexico Trout Challenge. The challenge is open to anyone, including residents and non-residents. Catch and Release is encouraged in this challenge. Class A lakes and other waters that are privately stocked are excluded from this challenge. No trout caught before January 1,the start date of this challenge, can be used as a part of this challenge.
